Poland Not Respected. Poland Too Subservient: Lessons for Today

Author John Hunter Harley was a Scottish politician and commentator. He realizes that interwar Poland was not highly regarded. He comments, “The Polish country, one of the largest in Europe in point of area and population, had come to be classed among the smaller and minor nations which had hardly any right to a policy of their own, and which had received their independence as a beneficent gift of reason of exertions in war by those who were infinitely stronger and more powerful than themselves.” (p. 85). This kind of mentality later led to the Yalta betrayal, where Poland was not important enough to be respected. This attitude persists in today’s European Union, where Poland exists as a colony of Brussels and Berlin that is increasingly being deprived of her sovereignty. It also means that Jews and their anti-Polish agenda are more important than fairness to Poland.

POLAND TOO SUBSERVIENT: BUT FOR ONCE, POLAND STANDS UP FOR HERSELF

Author Harley also quotes from Colonel Beck’s speech to the Polish Sejm on May 5, 1939. In it he rejects German provocations, such as the demand for Danzig (Gdansk), the demand for the so-called Polish corridor and the demand for a German railroad line that cuts through the Corridor. Beck thus speaks, “The Free City of Danzig was not invented by the Versailles Treaty. It has existed for many centuries as a result of a positive cross between Polish and German interests…The word ‘corridor’ is an artificial invention, for it is an ancient Polish land, with an insignificant percentage of German colonists…we allowed its (Germany’s) citizens to travel without customs or passport formalities from the Reich to East Prussia…we have no ground whatever for restricting our sovereignty on our own territory…it is still only one-sided concessions which the Government of the Reich appears to be demanding from us. A self-respecting nation does not make one-sided concessions. Where is the reciprocity?” (pp. 189-191).

Let us repeat Colonel Beck’s wise statement: A SELF-RESPECTING NATION DOES NOT MAKE ONE-SIDED CONCESSIONS. Exactly right! But that is exactly what the Polish leadership is doing today. There are one-sided concessions to the Jews, to the European Union, and so on–all to Poland’s detriment. And that is not even being done in the face of an enemy that is about to commit military aggression against Poland.

Harley writes, “A great number of Jews who are maintaining their families as small middlemen lose their means of existence in particular countries as soon as the economic life develops, and have no opportunity of assuring to their offspring means of livelihood.
