Communist Slaughter: A Comprehensive Mini-Encyclopedia of Soviet Communist Crimes
Those, such as Holocaust supremacists, that minimize Communist crimes, are in for a rude awakening upon reading this work. This fact-filled book is based on hundreds of sources. It catalogues almost every imaginable Soviet Communist crime against both Soviet citizens and foreigners.
62 MILLION VICTIMS OF SOVIET COMMUNISM
Author Rummel, with reference to the period 1917-1987 in just the USSR, writes, “Probably 61,911,000 people, 54,769,000 of them citizens, have been murdered by the Communist party–the government–of the Soviet Union.” (p. 1).
ABSOLUTE MINIMUM OF 24 MILLION DEATHS AT THE HANDS OF THE SOVIETS
Rummel thus qualifies his foregoing statements, “Now consider just the low, democide estimate of 24,063,000 citizens murdered. This is an absolute, rock bottom low. It is calculated from the most conservative, lowest estimates for all kinds and sources and periods of democide, from 1917 to 1987. It is highly improbable that all these hundreds of very low estimates are correct.” (p. 5).
COMMUNIST SLAUGHTER. DEATH RATE IN THE GULAGS
Of the 62 million people murdered overall by Soviet Communism, about 2/3rds of these deaths occurred in the infamous gulags. (p. 7).
Owing to the Holocaust supremacy that pervades western society, the Soviet gulags do not capture the imagination quite as much as the Nazi death camps with their industrial genocide. But death was just as certain: It just took longer. Rummel comments, “But over the whole camp system and up to the death of Stalin, the death rate was most likely between 10 and 28 percent a year, most probably 20 per cent…This means that even those sentenced to a lucky five years would probably not survive; those sentenced to the numerous ‘tenners’ or, in the late 1930s and throughout the 1940s, the commonplace twenty-five years, in effect received a sentence of death by hard labor. Survivors were usually those who were transferred to less deadly work, especially an administrative job in the camp, and in a position to make ‘deals’ for life-preserving food and clothing.” (pp. 64-65).
In like manner, long-term survival in Nazi German concentration camps required knowledge of “tricks”. See:
1920 POLISH-BOLSHEVIK WAR: UNAPPRECIATED FACTS
Rummel comments, “Moreover, I could find no estimate of foreigners killed, specifically during the occupation of Poland by Soviet forces during the Soviet-Polish War. During the occupation, Soviet forces and the Cheka exercised widespread terrorism, killing bourgeoisie, clergy, and landlords. The numbers killed must be at least five digits long and might have added 1 or 2 percent to total Soviet democide.” (p. 57).
Complaints about Poles doing pogroms during this time, and incarcerating disloyal Jews in places such as Jablonna, fail to take the foregoing facts into account. These complaints occur in a Judeocentric contextual vacuum.
