The author was a famous German-American journalist who had lived in Nazi Germany. He had also interviewed Hitler, and personally met many top Nazis. He mentions Joseph Goebbels looking so Jewish that jokes were made to this effect. (p. 277).

HITLER INVOKED THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE FOR THE UPCOMING GENOCIDE OF POLES, NOT JEWS

Some Holocaust materials misquote the following statements by Hitler, distorting them into a statement about exterminating the Jews. They were not: They unambiguously refer to Poles. In this Obersalzberg speech of August 22, 1939 (10 days before attacking Poland), the Fuhrer said:

“Our strength consists in our speed and in our brutality. Genghis Khan led millions of women and children to slaughter – with premeditation and a happy heart. History sees in him solely the founder of a state. It’s a matter of indifference to me what a weak western European civilization will say about me. I have issued the command – and I’ll have anybody who utters but one word of criticism executed by a firing squad – that our war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy. Accordingly, I have placed my death-head formation in readiness – for the present only in the East – with orders to them to send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish derivation and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need. Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?…Poland will be depopulated and then settled by Germans.” (pp. 2-3).

We clearly see that the Fuhrer was referring to Poles, and not Jews. We also realize that Hitler was not interested in avenging and correcting the “injustices” of Versailles, or the “unfairness” of the Polish Corridor, or the rightful ownership of Danzig. Nor was the Fuhrer merely interested in a military defeat of Poland, or the disappearance of a sovereign Polish state. Hitler was plainly animated by the genocide of Poles, and by the resulting lebensraum!

DOUBLE GENOCIDE VALID: NAZISM WAS A COMPETITIVE IMITATION OF COMMUNISM

Historian Ernst Nolte was correct: Nazism had copied Communism in order to fight it. Lochner wrote, “Field Marshall Hermann Goering himself told a group of us back in 1933: ‘Gentlemen, you may rest assured that we have studied the methods of Moscow minutely, and that in combating bolshevism, we shall go the communists one better.'” (p. 19).

NAZISM WAS ANTI-CHRISTIAN

Often nowadays, Christianity is blamed for the German-made Holocaust. In actuality, the relationship of Nazism to Christianity was entirely different. Lochner comments, “Hitler believed that religious systems last for a maximum of 2000 years, and he felt, therefore, that Christianity had about run its course. So he substituted for it the Nazi conception of blood and soil [BLUT UND BODEN] as the dominant factors of creation…Dyed-in-the-wool Nazis expire with the name of Adolf Hitler on their lips. If they are still church-minded, they observe his birthday in church by reading from MEIN KAMPF instead of from the Holy Scriptures…They have cast off the Christian virtues of humility, penitence, and contriteness for sin as un-Nazi. The Bible has value only in so far as it is purged of Jewish references. The Old Testament is taboo, and so is much of the New.” (p. 18).

Author Lochner provides many specifics of Nazi anti-Christianity (pp. 246-256). He writes, “The epistles of St. Paul were denounced as the rabulistic reasonings of a Jew whose ZERSETZENDE (subversive) intellect was foreign to Nordic feelings.” (p. 246). Jesus was made out into a non-Jew, and even of German descent! (p. 246). Joachim von Ribbentrop severed his connections with the Lutheran Church. (p. 255).

State subsidies to the churches, largely standard in Europe, dwindled to practically nothing under Nazism. (p. 247). Most church organizations were disbanded. (p. 248). All confessional schools in Austria were shut down, and much church property was confiscated. (p. 248). This can be generalized. The author comments, “At home the regime never ceased its unrelenting fight upon the churches, as is shown by Hitler’s long war on religion.” (p. 339). Finally, according to Lochner, “Nazi philosopher Rosenberg even let it be known, as a coercive measure, that no professing Christian may hold public office in the Nazi Reich after the war.” (p. 249). In the book GOTT UND VOLK, there was a call for Germans to break with Christianity (p. 256), and for children to be raised without ever hearing of Christianity.  (p. 257).

NAZISM DID NOT RESPECT THE TRADITIONAL FAMILY OR SEXUAL MORALITY

Lochner comments, “One of the tenets in which German youth is now raised is that the bringing forth of sons for the fatherland is so important that even the question of marriage is secondary. Julius Streicher told a graduating class of high school girls: ‘It is your duty to bear sons for the fatherland. Have them in wedlock if possible, out of wedlock if necessary. The state will look after them.'” (p. 71). [We can think of more recent instances where welfarism (the welfare state) has encouraged sexual promiscuity.]

NAZIS PRESSED SOME JEWS INTO FORCED LABOR EVEN BEFORE WWII

It is often supposed that the Nazis planned to exterminate all Jews, but, owing to wartime shortages or frontline reversals, changed their minds and spared some Jews for forced labor. In actuality, use of Jewish laborers was no afterthought: It had been built-in into Nazi German policies. See:

Lochner confirms the fact that compulsory Jewish labor preceded WWII. After describing how Jews in Germany experienced discrimination and expropriation of their property, he writes, “The Federal Office of Job Creation suddenly discovered early in 1939 that, after all, the Jew had an economic value…Completely reversing the policy of six years of Nazi rule, factories and other undertakings needing masses of unskilled workers were told that Jewish help would be assigned to them, and that nobody was to suffer any economic or moral or social disadvantage from taking on Jewish labor.” (p. 241).

WOODEN GERMAN TANKS?

The story is told of the 1939 Polish soldiers believing that German tanks were made of wood (I also heard cardboard, from eyewitness Paul Szews, a German Pole). Interestingly, this tale has parallels in other German-conquered nations, and its origins are unclear. Lochner writes, “One of the first English prisoners of war whom I questioned, at Maastricht, Holland, in May, 1940, told me that he and some of his fellow prisoners had started out against German tanks with their rifles, because they believed the tanks were made of wood.” (p. 43).

THE MYTH OF NAZI WORLD CONQUEST

In the Obersalzberg speech quoted earlier, Hitler also said, “The dawn of German domination of the world will then break.” (p. 3). Notice the difference between dominating the world and conquering the world.
